Consumer Confidence Index Increased in December 2020

Jakarta, 12/01/2021 MoF - The Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) increased from 92 in November 2020 to 96.5 in December 2020. This can be seen from a consumer survey result held by Bank Indonesia (BI) which indicates consumer confidence in economy that is stronger and closer to the optimistic zone.

Consumer confidence is strong in all levels of expenditure and education levels. Spatially speaking, consumer confidence improved in the 14 cities surveyed with the highest increase in Bandar Lampung followed by DKI Jakarta and Denpasar.

The improvement in consumer confidence in December 2020 was driven by stronger perceptions of current economic conditions and future expectations.

Perceptions of current economic conditions are improving, supported by aspects of job availability, income, and timeliness of purchasing durable goods.

Meanwhile, consumer expectations of future economic conditions have increased, particularly regarding the availability of jobs. (BI/nr/mr)
