January 2019 Foreign Exchange Reserves are Quite High

Jakarta, 08/02/2019 Ministry of Finance - Bank Indonesia (BI) released information on Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves that were quite high at the end of January 2019 amounting to USD120.1 billion. However, this figure was slightly lower than at the end of December 2018 of USD120.7 billion. The decline in foreign exchange reserves in January 2019 was affected by the payment of government foreign debt.

BI assessed that the position of foreign exchange reserves are equivalent to 6.7 months of imports or 6.5 months of financing and government foreign debt payments. The foreign exchange reserves are also above the international adequacy standard of around 3 months of imports. (nr/ds)
