Kendari Bay Bridge is Built for Connectivity, Industrial Competitiveness and Tourism

Jakarta, 19/11/2020 MoF - President Jokowi launched the Kendari Bay Bridge on October 22, 2020. This bridge connects Kota Lama Port with Bungkutoko Island in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi.

Having a length of 1.34 kms and a width of 20 meters, this bridge is built using the State Budget of Rp804 billion through 2015-2020 multi-year contract scheme.

This bridge can save time and money for local residents. Previously by boat it took 30 minutes, but now through this bridge, it only takes 3 minutes.

In addition, this bridge also supports connectivity for the development of the southern area of ‚Äč‚ÄčKendari City which will be developed into Kendari New Port industrial area in the Poasia area and Bungkutoko Island as well as new settlements.

The construction of this bridge is carried out according to the COVID-19 health protocol. In addition to maintaining physical distancing, using masks and avoiding crowds, the project site is also equipped with a clinic booth that collaborates with the nearest hospital for routine health checks twice a day.

From the architectural point of view, this bridge can complement the beautiful Kendari city landscape icon. (nr / ds)
