Jakarta, 10/06/2021 MoF - Bank Indonesia (BI) released Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves at the end of May 2021 at USD136.4 billion. The position of foreign exchange reserves is equivalent to financing 9.5 months of imports or 9.1 months of imports and government foreign debt payment. That figure is also above the international standard of about 3 months of imports.

Indonesia's foreign exchange reserves in May 2021 decreased compared to at the end of April 2021 of USD138.8 billion. The decline was influenced, among others by the payment of the government's foreign debt.

However, Bank Indonesia assesed that foreign exchange reserves remain adequate, supported by the maintained economic outlook, in line with various policies to support economic recovery. (BI/nr/ip)
