President Asked Financial Services Authority and Financial Service Industry to Maintain Market and Public Trust

Jakarta, 18/01/2021 MoF - At the Annual Meeting of the Financial Services Industry 2021, President Joko Widodo asked that the cooperation between the government and financial sector institutions be continued in facing the COVID-19 pandemic such as in 2020. The President asked the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and financial services industry to maintain market confidence.

"OJK and the financial services industry must maintain market confidence, maintain public trust as well as possible. Financial transactions that lead to fraud must be undertaken firmly, OJK supervision must not infertile, must not catch colds, must show fangs (actively aware and stricct to the rules)," said the President who was present virtually, Friday (15/01).

Furthermore, the President also emphasized the importance of maintaining credibility and integrity.

"We have to build a good internal system, build a system with international standards, thereby increasing international confidence in our financial services industry," he said.

As quoted from the Cabinet Secretariat (Setkab) website, the Head of State also invited the financial industry to continue to improve development and access for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to obtain financing.

In addition, the President has ordered the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and the Minister of Finance to prepare regulations.

In closing, the President invited the younger generation, MSME business people to develop their business scale to be more productive by utilizing access to capital from various financial institutions such as People's Business Credit (KUR) or Micro Waqf Bank. (nr / mr / hpy)
