These Are Issues That Will Be Voiced by President Jokowi at the ASEAN Summit and G20 Summit

Bangkok, 20/06/2019 MoF - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said he will ask ASEAN countries to unite in anticipation of a trade war between the United States (US) and the People's Republic of China (PRC) at the ASEAN Summit, in Bangkok, Thailand, on the next 22-23 June 2019. This is intended to maintain economic stability in ASEAN.

"It is very important that we invite ASEAN countries to unite," President Jokowi stated when delivering an introduction to the Limited Meeting (Ratas) Preparing for the President's Working Visit to the ASEAN Summit and G20 Summit at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (19/06) as quoted from the website of the Cabinet Secretariat (Setkab).

In addition to the US and China trade war issue, according to the President, he will also encourage discussions on marine debris in ASEAN relating to marine waste. While the third is the acceleration of peace at Rakhine State in Myanmar.

As for the Group of 20 (G-20) Summit in Osaka, Japan, in the upcoming 28-29 June 2019, President Jokowi wants to raise the first issue regarding the global economy and finance, especially with trade and investment. Third, according to the President, it might also need to be raised regarding the handling of the gap in the quality of employment infrastructure and also the empowerment of women in the world.
